What does the year, 2012 have to teach us about reaching a heightened state of awareness? For many, past and present, this is the year that marks the end of civilization. On one end of the spectrum this thought can fill us with fear and dread. While on the other end, it can bring us into the joy of the present. Knowing that life as we know it will change at a specified point in time can give us great cause to celebrate the moments we’re NOW experiencing irrespective of our perceived challenges and hardships.
We see our world as something with immense beauty and wonder, embracing what is before us instead of what is ahead of us. We give thanks for the mountains, rivers and oceans that bring awe to the soul. Seeing the petals of rose in full bloom is enough justification to take ones breath away. A sunset becomes a miracle that has been waiting to be noticed. There is a new awareness that the people in our lives really do matter. Such a perspective causes us to look beyond human error to see the divinity that resides within each of us. Today becomes the opportunity to forgive and be forgiven, removing the self imposed dams, allowing true joy to come flooding into our lives. We have a new reason to celebrate the moment as they are now recognized as a scarce commodity that must be cherished.
Our doomsday predictions can offer us silent pause to create a new world filled with awe and wonder as we suddenly acquire a new sensitivity and appreciation for those experiences we once took for granted. Fear will subside as we are forced to face the greatest fear of all, going from the known into the unknown. As we surrender our need to manipulate the future and embrace the present, our doomsday becomes an awakening of the soul, the real “US” that can never become extinct.
There is another train of thought that sees 2012 as the beginning of a new planetary consciousness. This will mark the end of all division and strife created by the hasty judgments we cast on our human differences. We will embrace all beliefs, religious, political or otherwise as part of the beautiful tapestry of humanity. Forgiveness will be used to look through the eyes of love to all that we see. All human error will merely be a gentle call for correction. Love will be recognized as the center of our being, making war and contention obsolete. The “it’s all about me” attitude will be transformed into a, “it’s all about us” attitude. All of life will be seen as a sacred opportunity to learn and grow with each “present” moment being the only “real” time there is.
While there are differing predictions of what 2012 may bring, one thing is certain, it can be the year that prompts changes in the way we think about reality. It matters not if any Earth changes actually occur. There is great wisdom to be gained by looking ahead to the predictions made for 2012.
First, if we only live with the wanting of tomorrow, we will never see the gift of today. To elevate our consciousness in 2010, we need to be asking ourselves, if 2012 were the end of life as we know it, how can we make the most of 2010 and 2011, living each day as if it were our last on planet Earth? Secondly, if a new consciousness is on the horizon we might as will be one step ahead of the game. We don’t have to wait for a particular year on a calendar to bring about positive change. We have the ability to look through the eyes of love RIGHT NOW! We have the ability to end judgment, spreading much needed tolerance RIGHT NOW! We have the ability to forgive and be forgiven RIGHT NOW! We have that ability to end war and contention RIGHT NOW by “BEING” PEACE instead of wanting peace.
We don’t need the world to come to an end or have an actual shift in global consciousness to be able to live in the moment and start manifesting positive changes in our lives. The truth of the matter is we can start living in the” moment” at any moment, deciding for ourselves when a shift in consciousness takes place. If this is the only new awareness 2012 has to offer, its going to be the year that triggers tremendous change for us all!
